POEMS BY GRIFFN GONZALES
No Reply’s first edition was an inauspicious start. While on a fellowship at Thornwillow Press, Griffin jumped at the opportunity to learn the arts of setting type by hand, printing letterpress, and fine bookbinding. Without a ready manuscript, he used the only thing available to him – poems written for High School English. Oy veh.
The poems are styled (sometimes well, sometimes not) after those of William Blake. They approach modern subjects within the confines of classical structures, and exude a youthful and reckless abandon.
The small project sparked a love of bookmaking which has grown with the press.
