Gravity / Gravedad
A POEM BY SISEL GELMAN⠀•⠀WITH WATERCOLORED MONOPRINTS BY KATIA GELMAN
To celebrate National Poetry month, I’m proud to present the first edition of Gravity / Gravedad.
This English and Spanish poem by Sisel Gelman stands on the convergence of desire and longing. It is a poem of distance – the distance of cultures, space, and time – beautifully illustrated with hand-colored monoprints by Sisel’s mother, Katia Gelman. The result is a strikingly tender tour-de-force. At the outset of her career as a writer, Sisel fulfills Ezra Pound’s promise that literature be “the news that stays news.” New in a number of ways, larger than ever and with novel craft techniques, this is certainly a departure for the press.
